DIY Landscaping

My husband and I decided that we were going to do our landscaping by ourselves this year.  We headed to Home Depot and bought 32 bags of mulch and a bunch of different plants all $40 and below.  For $300 we updated our landscaping to look like this.

We ripped out a ton of bushes and even made our own stone pathway!  We are very proud of ourselves and it was easy updating on a budget.

Shower Shelving

My husband and I were going crazy trying to figure out how to store our shower stuff inside the shower.  I did not want one of the long tension rods with shelving.  I needed an alternative.  We were in Target and I came across the plastic shelves that have four big rubber clings on them.  I bought one to try it and can't wait to get another.  They were the perfect solution and even better- they were made in the United States! It only cost $7.99 for each one and I plan to go back and get more.

Chalkboard Labels

I love love love these!  They were so cheap and easy to make.  I went to Michael's Craft Store and bought small, thin, wooden boards and ribbon.  I chose a black ribbon with white detail.  I also went to a local home improvement store and purchased Chalkboard Spray Paint.

I sprayed the wooden boards with two coats of paint and then stapled the ribbon to each side so it would be able to tie onto any basket.  You can use these labels for anything.  I have many baskets, such as laundry, remotes, blankets, etc., labeled in my house.  I bought all the baskets at Home Goods or Target.  The cost was less than $10.00 for everything (not including the baskets) and I was able to use the spray paint to make other sticker labels as well.  It was a great way to update on a budget. I have also seen baskets with chalkboard labels retail for about $40.00.

Coat Rack

I have always wanted a coat rack and bench at the entry point of my house.  I am not sure a bench will fit but I came across a coat rack at Kohl's and I could not pass it up.  The regular price on it is $140.  However, it is always on sale for around $60.  It was the perfect way to add to our entryway.  I love it and it looks great put together.  Right now, I only have my purse hanging from it but it has plenty of space for coats and even a basket on the bottom for umbrellas! I assembled by myself with no help from my husband.  It is sturdy and I am so glad I decided to get it.  It is a great way to update your space without spending a ton of money.

Wood Framed Calendar Holder

To start off the blog I decided to share something that is one of my favorite things from my home.  My Wood Framed Calendar Holder.  I was getting tired of finding a spot to hang my calendar.  I finally decided on hanging out my refrigerator which only led to it constantly falling down.  Using my favorite site, Etsy,  I came across this awesome calendar holder.

Here it is hanging in my kitchen!

I absolutely love it.  It adds to my country theme and I love things that are handmade :)  It came with a calendar but I picked my own calendar to put in it.   Love it? Hate it?  Let me know your opinion!
